Twins - Dallas Fort Worth Newborn Photographer

It's no secret that newborn photography is my favorite.  It is by far the most work but the results are to die for.  There's absolutely nothing more precious than a newborn baby - unless there are two, of course! These precious little ones were so sweet and so much fun to work with.  The time flew by!  Normally I reserve at least 2-3 hours for a typical newborn session (of one child) and it didn't take too much longer than that for these kiddos.   I have been looking forward to this session for quite some time!  I was honored to do their mommy's maternity session as well.  When booked together, the newborn session fee is credited back upon print purchase.

Meet Olive!

As many of you know, my family is adopting from Vietnam.  Our baby girl, Faye, will hopefully come home in a few short months.  Adoption is definitely not an easy road.  It is a painfully long process with many bureaucratic bumps along the way, sometimes very difficult travel to third world countries, and then the transition which often proves just as difficult as the process itself.  Obviously adoption is very close to our hearts and recently I've had the opportunity to get to know some amazing families who have successfully adopted both internationally and domestic.  As part of the Celebrating Adoptions organization, I am able to provide a complimentary session to these families within a year after they bring their children home.  I absolutely love my time getting to know these families and their babies and this session was no different.  Olive is from Ethiopia and was full of so much life and love!

Thank you so much for choosing me as your photographer.  I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, sweet-natured subject!

All boy!!

I had a super fun session the other night with my new friend, Gage!  We looked at fish, climbed across bridges, leaped off of steps, and shimmied up trees.  It was just a typical day in the life of a 5 year old little boy.  :)

What a busy week I have had.  Another newborn session and a senior session as well - they're becoming my new favorite.  It's considerably less exercise with teens vs. the typical active toddler session where I do a lot of chasing! :)  More to come on those later this week!

Told ya!

There really is something in the water.  How beautiful is this mama? You would never know she was carrying TWINS!  Yes, those are still her pre-pregnancy jeans.  :)  Thanks again, Amy and Andy!  You guys were fantastic and I can't wait to meet your sweet babies!

On another note, I just wanted to remind everyone that the holiday season is creeping up very fast!  I still have som spots available this fall for greeting cards.  It's very important that your session is booked and finished before December 1 to get your order done in time for gifts and holiday cards!  I have already booked several appointments this fall for that reason and I don't want to have to turn anyone away.   The card templates I'm offering this year were custom designed and can be altered however you would like with colors, fonts, number of images, etc.  They are absolutely gorgeous!

Babies Babies Babies!!!

What is in the water lately?  I have had so many requests for maternity portraits!  It's pretty unusual for me but I certainly don't mind!  So many beautiful moms to be out there.  I really wish I had done something like this with my boys but I was way too self-conscious to go somewhere and get them done.  Likewise with my boys - I didn't want to get them out of the house before they were at least 2 weeks old so newborn portraits didn't even happen.  That's the nice thing about custom photography.  You never have to leave your home!  Lately I have even been dragging my studio lighting on location for even more options.  My style is normally pretty casual but it's nice to get a few more formal options in as well and lighting and backdrops do the trick!

Last night, I had the opportunity of meeting the cutest couple:  Whitney and Jason.  They are expecting a little girl!  They were so much fun and so laid back and comfortable - we all had the best time and I even got to experiment with some new lighting. :)

And speaking of little girls!  There will be an addition to the Captures by Erin family!  We received our referral of little Linh Chi (aka Faye Linh Seigler) on a very lucky day:  8-8-08!  We're hoping that Vietnam gets all the paperwork finished quickly so we can bring her home quickly!  Thank you already for all the well wishes - we are super excited!

Ah, little girls.

As many of you know, my husband and I are currently in process to adopt a little girl from Vietnam.  I'm happy to say we are #1 on our agency's list!  That means the very next baby girl that finds herself in our agency's orphanage is ours.  We couldn't be more excited but so NERVOUS at the same time!  So many bumps in the road during the last 2 years of this process and while we are so close, we are just praying that nothing else will stand in the way of bringing a baby girl home.  I'm getting pretty good at this petti skirt thing and I'd love nothing more than to practice on my own baby. :)

Which leads me to a recent session!  I was wary of the hot temperatures but luck was on our side this evening!  A bit of rain, some cloud cover, and even a breeze!  Wow!  Anyway, Kate is beautiful as always.  I recently did a newborn session with her new baby brother.  It was super fun to have all the attention on Kate this time - she is such a spitfire with SO much personality!  The red petti skirt and beads definitely suited this little diva. :)  Thanks to her parents too for introducing me to a great new location!  It was beautiful - even for the Texas summer when everything turns yellowy and crispy.  I love it even more here than the Botanic Gardens!

What a weekend!!!

I left good ol' DFW this weekend and headed east to Maryland to an AMAZING workshop in Jodie Otte's studio.  Jodie just happens to be my absolute favorite baby, child, and maternity photographer EVER and she couldn't have been cooler.  I left more inspired than ever!

Before I left for my big trip, I had a chance to do a session with the sweetest little girly, Kynlee, who was trying out the new red pettiskirt I bought last month!  The tag said 2T but I think it might be a bit bigger than that.  Anyhow, could she be any cuter in it???
